Writing Prompt...The Date

You start dating a person you met at your local grocery store. The date is going well—you’ve taken the person to your favorite restaurant (in which you both ordered the same unusual meal) and, it turns out, you both grew up in the same small town. The problem is, when you go for a walk along the coastline at the end of the date, she reveals something about her past that shocks you. (Good? Bad? You decide.)

Prologue
Jaymie met him at the local grocery store, “Jerry’s Market”.  He was handsome, tall, and wealthy.  She knew him from his wealthy family, who always in the news for one of their charity balls they hosted.  She feigned ignorance when they bumped into each other at the checkout line so she wouldn’t seem like some crazed stalker.
“Hi!” he said, smiling bright in her direction.
“Hi!” she replied back.
“Name’s Tate.” He introduced himself.
“Hello, Tate.” She answered him, acting like she didn’t know him, but in actuality, she did.  “I’m Jaymie.”
“Well, Jaymie.  Would you like to have dinner with me?” he offered.
Thinking about it for a moment, she finally answered, “Yes.”
“Great!” Tate responded.  “I’ll call you later to schedule.”
As Tate handed over the cash for his purchases, he flashed Jaymie a smile before leaving.  As she checked out her own purchases, and headed for the exit door, she suddenly realized…he didn’t have her phone number….
