Writing Prompt...April Showers...

Start your story with “April showers bring May flowers, at least, that’s what my ______ used to tell me.” Then end your story with story with, “And that, officer, is why I had to murder my ______.”

Prologue

“April showers bring May flowers,” I began my story to the officer interrogating me. “that’s what my Grandma used to tell me.”

I was being interrogated by Officer Francko for the homicide of my abusive boyfriend. 

“Officer Francko, may I be frank, now pun intended.”

“I just want your story.” Officer Francko repeated.

I began telling Officer Francko my history with my boyfriend, Heinrich “Henry” Thames II.  I told him everything, from how we met, to our dating, to how we ended up living together.

When I came to the night of his murder, I was asked the usual question—where was I at the time of the murder?

“I took a long walk along the pier after a heated argument between Henry and me.” I told Officer Francko.

“No one saw you around the pier?”

“No.  I was alone.”

“So, you really have no alibi for the time of the murder of your boyfriend?”

“No, I guess I don’t.”

“Well, I’m afraid I’m going to have to hold you for 48 hours while we look into your story.” Officer Francko told me as he led me to the counter where Deputy James would book me before having me put into my cell.
