Writing Prompt...Karaoke Singoff

A promotion at work has you head out with coworkers to celebrate. While at the bar, you decide to sing karaoke. As you belt your way through the song (fill in the blank), another member of the crowd starts harmonizing with you. Is it someone you know? Is it not? Either way, this is the moment you fall in love. Write this scene.


Chapter 1
Marcie Brown heads to Jonestown Tavern with her coworkers to celebrate a promotion at work.  The bartender, Mike, was getting “Open Mike” night with a karaoke sing off.  Little did Marcie’s coworkers know, but singing karaoke was Marcie’s favorite activity, as her coworkers encouraged her to do.
As Marcie headed up on the stage to do a rendition of “Endless Love”, Marcie belted out the tune as her coworkers and patrons sang along. 
Halfway through the song, a familiar voice started singing along with Marcie as she looked out into the crowd to notice the voice.  Marcie stop dead in her tracks, unable to sing another note.  “It couldn’t be.” Marcie said to herself, as he came forward to the stage.
Bryson “Bryce” Chambers, her high school sweetheart was coming up on stage.  As he picked up the mike to sing along, Marcie was shell-shocked.  She had never gotten over Bryce…probably why she never found herself dating other men since their break up. 
Bryce looked lovingly into her eyes and Marcie’s knees melted as they finished the song. 
Marcie walked off stage and to her seat as Bryce came up behind her.
