The Sword

Synopsis

Camila comes home to find a sword in her ceiling and several holes in her backyard.  Yet nothing seems to be taken.  After the police are called to investigate, Camila finds an important clue as to who it is?  Will Camila tell police, or hide the clue from the police?

Chapter 1

Camila was tired after a long day at the office and just wanted a hot bath and some sleep.  She couldn’t even eat…that’s how tired she was.

But sleep would have to wait…when she got inside her studio apartment to find a sword stuck into her ceiling. 

Fearing for her safety, Camila cautiously searched the apartment for signs of a break in, but everything looked to be in it’s place and no sign of a break in.

After calling police, Camila waited and went out onto her balcony to get a breath of fresh air, when she spied two hole dug in her backyard—the size of graves.

Camila had no time to check them out when there was a knock on her door.

“Ma’am, you reported a break in?” Officer Raines asked Camila when she opened the front door.

“Yes.  I found a sword stuck into my ceiling when I came home from work.”

“A sword?” Officer Raines asked.

“Yes.  I checked the apartment, but there was nothing out of place and no one broke into my apartment.”

“Well, nothing was taken and there was no break-in? Off. Raines reasoned.  “Anyone have a key to your apartment?”

“Just my ex.” Camila told him.  “We just broke up and he hasn’t given back my spare key.”

“Well, I’ll have a look around to see if I can find some clues into this mystery.” Off. Raines told her.

While Off. Raines investigated Camila’s apartment, she hoped he wouldn’t look in the backyard.  She didn’t want to explain the grave-size holes dug up.
