Short Story: Be Careful What You Wish For?

Write a story around the theme:  Be careful what you wish for.

“I’ve wanted to be his for as long as I could remember.” I thought to myself as I got ready for our first date.

I couldn’t believe it was really happening.  He never really looked at me before.  In fact, he almost seemed to ignore most of the school year.  He always dated the popular girls.  I was never the popular kind.  But last week, my crush, Daryn Michaels walked up to me and asked me out.

At first, I was skeptical, but then he gave me a pink carnation—my favorite flower.  I was convinced he really wanted a date, so I accepted.

And now it was the night of our first date.

Daryn showed up at my front door and knocked.  My father answered and proceeded to grill Daryn about his intentions with me.  Daryn won my father over.

So we headed out to the limo where the driver was waiting to take us to the school dance—Homecoming to be exact.

When we arrived at the dance, our entrance was the highlight of the dance.   I never saw what came next. . .that’s why I never expected what was coming later. 

Daryn was dancing with me and holding me so tenderly, it felt good to be in his arms.

But what came next, threw me for a loop. . .

I found out the real reason Daryn asked me to the dance was because his girlfriend, Sylvia Jenkins,  was caught cheating on him with his best friend, Chad James, and Daryn wanted revenge on the two of them.

That’s when he asked me to the dance and where he admitted that he only asked me to make Sylvia jealous.

I was so hurt by Daryn’s betrayal, I ran out of the school gymnasium crying and into the arms of the school rebel, Tolliver Williams.
