Writing Prompt: A Day in the Life


A Day in the Life: Write a story where the protagonist goes on the most mundane errand you can think of. Rely solely on the character to make it interesting.

Cherry woke up looking forward to an exciting day.  She was going to meet her boyfriend, Bob, after a long 3-year virtual dating relationship.
But while eating breakfast, Cherry received a text from her boyfriend:  Sorry babe, but I never made it!  Hurricane knocked me off the road and I suffer a broken leg.  I’ll be laid up for several weeks.  Sorry for everything, babe! :’-(
Cherry was depressed that she would not be meeting her boyfriend, Bob.  And now it would be several weeks before they could meet when his leg healed.
Cherry thought that checking up on her friends on Facebook might cheer her up—but seeing their happiness only depressed her.
So she picked up a romance book—bad idea!  The smoking hot sex made Cherry feel miserable.  So she tossed the book back onto her bed.
Ho-hum!  Nothing to do but go back to sleep!  So as boring and mundane as it sounded—that’s exactly what Cherry did!  Good night!!!!!!
