Spellbound: Hannah Learns of Her True Heritage

Synopsis
Hannah Mayberry has always been a little different from the rest of her peers.  But on her 16th birthday, she finds out why—Hannah is a 3rd generation witch.  Her mother and grandmother were witches too.  When Hannah comes into her powers, she learns her arch rival, Danah McCloskey, is also a witch, and has a diabolical plan that will reek havoc on Springton.  Can Hannah save Springton citizens from Danah’s diabolical plan?
Chapter 1
Hannah woke up on June 21, 2017—her 16th birthday!  The birthday she couldn’t wait for!  She would have a surprise—Hannah remembered her mother telling her for as long as she could remember.  She couldn’t wait for the grand party that her mother would throw—just like her mother and her grandmother had on their 16th birthdays—she couldn’t wait to find out the secret that would change her life.
Hannah got up out of bed and opened her bedroom window.  A beautiful day.  The sun shining through her window gave Hannah the sign that all would be well today.
Hannah put on the plaid skirt and blue sweater that she picked out the night before and put on the necklace her mother gave her the night before—an early birthday present.
As soon as she was finished dressing, Hannah went downstairs to join her father, mother, and younger sister, Carissa, for the family breakfast they all did for each member’s birthdays—a family tradition, Hannah’s mother insisted on.
“Happy birthday, Hannah!” 8-year-old, Carissa said when Hannah sat down at the family table.
“Thank you, sister dear.”
“Hannah, I made all your favorites!” Hannah’s mother said, as she sat over-easy eggs, hash browns, toast with strawberry jelly and butter, and orange juice in front of Hannah.
“Yum!” Hannah exclaimed.  “It’s delicious!”
Carissa ate her oatmeal—the only thing her sister would eat.
“Carissa, you really should try my eggs and hash browns.” Hannah encouraged her sister to eat.
“Yuck!” Carissa said with a grimace.
“You don’t know what you’re missing!”
“Hannah, let your sister be!” Hannah’s father said.
“Yes, dad!”
“Well, what is the big secret that I learn today?” Hannah asked, hoping Hannah would give away before the big party.
“Hannah, you know I won’t reveal that until your party!” Hannah’s mother told her.
“Yeah, I know.  I was just hoping!”
“All in good time!” Hannah’s mother said, smiling.”
The Mayberry’s finished their breakfast and went about their days as usual with Hannah’s father heading to work, Hannah’s mother cleaning house and getting everything ready for the party, Carissa watching her favorite tv shows, and Hannah spending time heading to the town library, where she worked as librarian.
Danah McCloskey, Hannah’s arch rival, came into the library and snubbed her nose at Hannah.  Danah came from old money and didn’t like Hannah, who had to take a job to get the things that Danah could use her parents’ money for.  Danah clearly felt superior to Hannah due to her wealthy status.
It was time for Hannah to leave the library and head home to get ready for her big party where her life would change forever!

Chapter 2
Hannah was dressed waiting for her mother, father and sister Carissa so they could head to the town hall where Hannah’s father had rented for Hannah’s big 16th birthday bash.
As Hannah and her sister piled into the back of their family’s station wagon—despite being well off, Hannah’s father still preferred the simple life he was accustomed to as a child—and Hannah’s father drove to the town hall where friends, family, as well as some the Mayberry’s didn’t know headed inside the town hall for Hannah’s birthday bash.
Hannah was excited until she saw Danah and her family head inside.  It may have been Hannah’s night, but Danah would make sure the night revolved around her!  Hannah was practically sure of it!
Hannah decided that no matter what histrionics Danah caused, she was going to enjoy her 16th birthday party.  After all, you only turn 16 once!
The party went off with a bang as friends and family enjoyed the party.  But Hannah’s mother was waiting for the end to talk with Hannah in private for her big surprise.
“Hannah, what I’m about to tell you will probably surprise you…” Hannah’s mother began telling her daughter about her surprise.
“I’m listening, Mother.” Hannah said respectfully.
“Hannah, 16 is a big time for a young girl and with it comes responsibility.”
“Yes, I know, Mother.”
“What I’m about to tell you will give you great power…and with that power…determines your maturity.”
“Yes, Mother.”
“Hannah darling, I am a 200-year-old witch with special powers that I received when I was 16 too.”
“Mother, are you telling me that I am also a witch with powers?”
“Yes, Hannah.  Your powers should come around the age of 16.”
As Hannah’s mother left her daughter to contemplate what was told to her, Hannah was confused, “Is that why she got these funny feelings inside her?”
But she would have to think about it later, as Hannah’s boyfriend, Al, came up and gave her a peck on her cheek.
“Hey, love!” Al said, obviously a bit tipsy.
“Al, where did you get the alcohol?” Hannah inquired, since there was no alcohol at her party.
“Simple.  I have my own stash right here!” Al said as he pulled out his flask and poured some whiskey into his punch and drank it like it was kool-aid.
Disturbed by Al’s public drunkenness, Hannah pulled out her cell from her purse and dialed a taxi since Hannah’s family left her alone with Al, who seemed to be a responsible boy.
“Who you calling, babe?” Al said, a little inebriated.
“A taxi.”
“Why, babe.  I can drive just fine!” Al said a little angry.
“Al, you’re drunk and you aren’t driving…period!” Hannah said forcibly.
Al, getting riled up, tried to grab his car keys from Hannah, who had taken the keys before Al got any idea to get behind the wheel.
But a funny thing happened as Al tried to overpower Hannah to get his keys…Hannah, despite how little she was, somehow found the strength to hold Al back before he hurt her.
Ashamed at what he was about to do, Al ran off…leaving Hannah shocked as to what just happened.
