400 Children

This is a story to the Kenny Rogers’ song “Lucille”.   For years I heard the lyrics “Four hundred children…” only to finally discover that the lyrics actually read, “Four hungry children….” You left me with four hundred children?    What am I going to do with that many children?   It was your idea to adopt…but I thought you would stop after two, three, or four…….   But you kept going, adopting 400 children.   How you got away with it, is beyond my comprehension? Now you’ve left me high and dry with all these mouths to feed?    Was this your plan all along?
