Writing Prompt: The Contest


Your phone rings in the middle of the night. An indiscernible voice speaks: “There is a car waiting for you outside your house. Get inside. You don’t want to ignore this.” Your spouse rolls over, eyes squinting, and says, “Everything okay?” What happens next?


Plot
Samantha, or Sam, Reyes just wanted to get some much needed sleep.  But while getting ready for bed so she could crawl inside and cuddle her husband, Jake, her phone rings.  Temptation is to ignore it, but it just keeps ringing.  Sam finally answers it.
“There is a car waiting for you outside your house.  Get inside.  You don’t want to ignore this.” An indiscernible voice tells her, before hanging up.
Jake rolls over in bed, “Everything okay?”
“Ah, yeah.  I’ll let you know.” Sam says as she gets dressed and heads out to the car that is waiting for her, her mind piqued with curiosity.
When the car rolled to a stop at The ACM Awards, Sam got out and was met with her manager, Ben Knight,  as  he announced she had won the contest—she would be gracing the ACM Awards with her idol, George Strait!  Stars were in Sam’s eyes as Mr. Strait held out his hand, to which, Sam gracefully accepted. 
It was going to be a great night!

Your best friend has been arrested for illegally downloading music.   While in jail, he asks you to go to his house and clear everything off his computer.   As you start deleting files, you notice a folder called “Top Secret.”   Out of curiosity, you open it and are shocked by what you find.
